YOUTH EXCHANGE GET-TOGETHER IN COLUMBUS!!!!

During the weekend of September 11 and 12, 2005, all of the Inbound Exchange Students for Rotary District 6690 attended their first get-together. It was held at the Cross Country Inn in Columbus, Ohio. This was the first time that all of the exchange students got to meet each other. The host families and counselors were also invited to get information more information. During the morning, the parents and students met with the Rotary officials to go over things such as insurance, dos' and dont's', and general information about the Exchange program.

After the meetings the parents were allowed to leave and the students all checked into their rooms before heading to the pool. Martha didn't have a bathing suit with her so a quick shopping trip to the store across from the hotel solved that problem. The pool was NOT the place to be if you did not want to get wet!!

In the evening all of the students were invited to Sports Ohio, a multi-sports complex in Columbus. The students had access to baseball batting cages, minature golf, basketball, and go-kart racing. The go-kart racing seemed to be the big hit with the students.

After a long and exhausting evening at Sports Ohio (not for the students... but for the adults!!) everyone got a good nights sleep and was up bright and early Sunday morning to be picked up for the drive home. Martha met many new friends and will see them at many other get togethers to come in the District.
