Each year the Greater Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival is held in Luarel Highlands east of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The village of Morelandshire opens its arms and welcomes all visitors to share in the fun and enjoyment of medieval England. 

 

Martha met many of the residents of the village of Morelandshire including the village sheriff, king and queen, queen mum and numerous knights and common village residents.

There were many, many store and booths that the villagers had for Martha to shop at. Everything from musical instruments, to jewelry, incense and candles, clothing to dolls, and best of all FOOD!!

There were numerous shows put on by the good people of Morelandshire. Fire eaters and singers, village fools and comedians, dancers and musicians. There were games of chance and skill. Martha even tried her had at shooting a crossbow... (it shot ping pong balls!) although she didn't quite hit the target!

There was even a joust between the Champion Knight of Morelandshire and a Knight from a rival village. All the villagers cheered on their champion... but alas... he was defeated by the rival Knight.

Finally... Martha got very brave... and decided to try mountain climbing!!! Well... maybe not a mountain, but a small rock! The climbing wall had an easy, medium and hard side for her to try. She did the easy side very, very well.. reaching the top. But, when she tried the hard side, she didn't quite get as high. In fact... she only reached the first level. It is believed that her long fingernails prevented her from making the climb a success!

This is the first of many adventures that Martha will be going on while she is here with us in the states. We hope she enjoyed this one and all the ones to come!!! The king of Morelandshire says... "COME BACK ANYTIME MY LADY MARTHA!!!"
