MARTINS
FERRY ROTARY CLUB DISBANDS AFTER 60 YEARS OF SERVICE

The
rotary Club of Martins
Ferry held it's final meeting on March 30th after over
60 years of service to the Martins Ferry Community. With
the club down to just 12 members it was determined that
the club could no longer sustain the level of service it
as accustomed to and with no potential new members it was
better to end on a positive note
Past
President and 22-year member Dorothy Powell said the 12
members took a vote almost three weeks ago to either
dissolve the club, try to remain active or transfer to
Bridgeport, and the club ultimately decided to dissolve,
although as of now, two members will, in fact, remain
Rotarians in the Bridgeport club. (CLICK

And
Ongoing project for the Martins Ferry Club has been the
Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Its work to
replace a crumbling brick wall in Walnut Grove Cemetery,
Martins Ferry's oldest landmark, began several years ago.
The final step
will be taken this summer with the installation of two
granite benches. Tom Thomas, who had been a member of the
Martins Ferry club, said the benches were bought at a
savings from Randall L. Gallagher Memorials Inc., adding
that Gallagher is a Rotarian. (CLICK

Leaves Mark on Project")
DG Tom
Kokensparger and ADG Vickie Bland both share their
thoughts and feelings in the
April District 6690 Newletter regarding losing the
Martins Ferry Club and what can be done to make sure the
same does not happen to your club.
All Bridgeport
Rotarians will miss doing makeups at Martins Ferry and
will miss their fellowship and good service.
