SHELTER BOX
PROGRAM
SHELTER
BOX USA

The
Bridgeport Rotary Club has adopted the Shelter
Box USA Program as one of our international
projects. As
you know, this wonderful endevour sends a load of survival
supplies to people in an area where a life threatening
disaster has left them homeless.
It contains such items as a tent like shelter,
blankets, personal hygene products, cooking items, clean
drinking water, and even toys for the kids.
Through
our members generous donations we were able to purchase a
box in 2008. It
was sent to the hurricane devastated areas near Turks and
Caicos where a total of 168 boxes were delivered.
Since its inception in 2001, Shelter Box has
deployed 10,428 boxes worldwide to 75 disasters in 50
countries, helping over 100,000 people affected in time of
disaster. We
would like to see the Bridgeport Rotary Club continue to
help people throughout the world with this unique life
saving assistance project.
It
would be great if we could raise the additional funds
needed to purchase a Shelter Box in Dan’s year as
President of our Club.
We need
about $700 to accomplish this goal with approximately 17
weeks to go! This
figures to about $1.30 per member per week.
So please pitch in and put your donation in the
little Shelter Box located at the meeting entrance table.
This is a very worthwhile and gratifying project.
It will warm your heart to put a smile on the faces
of a family who has lost everything.
Let’s show that the Brigeport Rotary Club cares,
and that a little club can make a big difference to
someone in this big world!
